Charlie is the best coach I’ve ever worked with. He’s patient and very inclusive, catering exercises to each participant’s ability in the class. The exercises are always fun, like flipping tyres or relays, which makes pushing myself much easier.

Always professional, Charlie gives great guidance on form and on how to get the most out of exercise which I’ve found applicable in my own workouts.

Finally, there’s always a positive atmosphere in the classes I’ve attended and have made some really good friends from the pair work and group work which to me, is what coming to classes is all about.

My 4 children have been working with Charlie for over a year, they go to group classes and 1-2-1 sessions with him. They look forward to it every week and he’s brilliant with them, he’s got a great way with kids and he teaches them through fun, understanding, inclusivity and education.
The group classes are brilliant and give the kids a chance to work with other kids, of your kids are shy like mine then you’ll know how difficult it can be for them to step out of their comfort zones but the relaxed inclusive atmosphere of the group makes joining in easy and fun!

I have been training with Union Jab for couple of years now. Three reasons I keep coming back. 1) It’s a brilliant way to build up all round strength and fitness and I can see the benefits in the other sports I do. 2) The classes are really friendly and welcoming and ego-free, we work hard but we always have a laugh and 3) punching things is pretty fun- good stress relief after work! We even got to put what we’d learnt to the test in the ring in a friendly fight and both emerged in one piece. I’d definitely recommend Charlie and Union Jab for anyone who is looking for high quality boxing instruction or just a fun way to get a bit fitter.

I absolutely love the class in Wylam. As a women sometimes you can find yourself in situations were you feel vulnerable. Learning to defend yourself is so important and doing it whilst getting fitter and stronger feels great. I enjoy it so much that I now also have weekly 121’s with coach Charlie and they are phenomenal. 5 *****

Having tried (and failed) to stick to any kind of fitness plan or attend classes for more than a few weeks, I've found Charlie's classes to be absolutely incredible. Charlie is friendly, down to earth and knowledgeable. This is the only gym where if I have to miss a regular session, I go out of my way to do a different time in the week whereas before I'd just skip it and be done. I've now been attending boxing and fight camp for over 6 months and have seen a huge difference in my strength, fitness, body shape and confidence. Even better, I'm able to bring my children with me to watch if I have no childcare- when I do the girls are disappointed not to come as they adore Charlie! Would a million percent recommend to anyone.

Fully recommend Union Jab! I've always struggled to find a sport to enjoy and thought I'd give boxing a go. So glad I did!

Charlie is a great teacher that supports all fitness levels and will make sure you're okay during the class. The type who will push you, but not too far, and doesn't mind if you need to stop for a breather (me).

If you've not done a class with Union Jab before, just go for it! Affordable, friendly and most of all fun!!

Amazing. My daughter started attending Charlie's youth boxing sessions back in September 2021. She absolutely loves it and gets excited to come along every week. I have since started boxing classes myself, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
