Having read the other reviews, I feel it is worth mentioning they have a long waiting list. But I was kept informed and if you need the help, the wait is worth it. Remember it's not the staff's fault that supply isn't meeting demand...

The EMDR therapy has completely changed my life. I feel like a whole different person. Angela was really knowledgeable and qualified to do the job, but most importantly I found her really easy to talk to and a lovely person. Thanks so much to Angela.

I have used talking matters in the past and have had a mixed experience, however this time with Bob, my therapy experience was totally different. I can actually say I have enjoyed my time with Bob, he is highly experienced, intelligent and makes the environment feel safe and secure. There was no judgment, no pushing and each session was both lead together. I felt like I had paid for private treatment, this was a very good experience. Bob is a fantastic therapist and is a credit to the service. Thank you for the world you have done with me. You will always have a special place in my heart ā¤ļø

Please don't judge NTT based on some of the reviews left here.
Due to high demand, because the need for therapy is clearly on the rise, the service is seemingly under pressure.

However my therapist Kirsty has helped me in numerous ways and I couldn't wish for better.

I'm a somewhat complex client and upon entering the service, even though I wanted the help, I genuinely thought I was beyond such a thing.
Kirsty has proven me wrong and somehow managed to piece things together that I would've never thought of and I'm not entirely convinced she's not some variety of magical.

And while therapy may not work out that way for everyone (I hope it does ā¤ļø), you won't know until you try. I 100% recommend referring into NTT.
It can't promise to be a quick fix and there may be a bit of a wait but it could be a step towards changing your life.

Oh and thank you Kirsty. 😊 Truly.

It’s unfortunate that I have to write this, but I’m not surprised. As a professional dietitian working in the NHS, I’ve seen how bureaucratic systems prioritize policies over people—how they reduce individuals to mere cases rather than recognizing them as complex, suffering human beings.

I’ve battled health anxiety for a decade. Then, after a very serious car accident, I was left with chronic pain in my wrist from a severe fracture and back, along with suspected PTSD. The trauma of the accident worsened my health anxiety which was under good control at the time.

Through my solicitors, I was provided private therapy to help me come to terms with chronic pain. But because I was receiving treatment elsewhere, Northumberland Talking Matters immediately discharged me—after six months of waiting—flatly refusing to provide support for my health anxiety. When I questioned this, I was met with a cold, bureaucratic rationale: ā€œYou can only have one form of therapy.ā€ As if human suffering can be neatly divided into categories. As if the complexity of pain—physical and psychological—can be treated in isolation.

The message was clear: I had to choose between managing my chronic pain or addressing my health anxiety. I was then gaslighted by the therapist stating I chose the other therapy as more important over health anxiety. The reason I chose my pain management therapy was because I could tell as a service NTT did not care about me. There was no room for nuance, no recognition that both problems required attention, and I NEEDED HELP.
Policies over people. Systems over suffering.

Some may find these services helpful. But what I’ve witnessed is an institution that does not fundamentally care about those it claims to serve. People within the system follow procedures, collect their paychecks, and move on—because that’s what the structure incentivizes. There’s no deep concern for the individual, no true responsibility taken for their well-being. And that should concern all of us.

But here’s what I’ve learned: you have to take responsibility for yourself. You have to strengthen yourself, despite the injustice of it all. Build strong relationships with people who genuinely support you. Set a goal—something meaningful, something worth striving toward—and pursue it with everything you have, no matter how difficult your circumstances. Because the alternative is despair. And that is no way to live.

I know the struggle is real. I know it’s hard. But you can overcome it. And you must. Because the world needs people who refuse to be broken by it.

Disgusting service. They don’t follow up appointments and forget to send over referrals. I had someone called Kieron who said he would refer me but after waiting 5 months and not hearing anything I checked up on things and he hadn’t done his job properly and forgot to refer me. . I was basically just left in the system. No wonder people kill them self.

I'm going to be honest. I never thought that therapy would help. But having had good positive outcome. I'm happy. No shame in asking for help. Someone will always listen and try and help u.
You are never alone in this world. Even if you feel like you are. There are some good people willing to help you.
I went through some dark times. And they did help. I'm not 100%. But I try and look at life differently.
Give it a go please for yourself. Stay positive.

Only 4 sessions in found it really helpful and the lady I've spoke too the whole time is great. No need for people to slag them off all the time 1) there are good people who work here trying to help it's not fair to tar a whole organisation and all its employees with your bad experience or lack of progression when it could be your fault 2) you could deter someone who would benefit from using this service from doing so
